Jessica Alba On The Sets Of “The Eye”
After Oscar winning actress Renee Zellweger dropped out of the Paramount project and the movie company gave it up entirely, Liongate stepped in and proposed
Jessica Alba for the leading part in the US version of 'The Eye'.
The movie is to be directed by the debutant French David Moreau and Xavier Palud and it is said to start shooting this winter. If Alba accepts the offer, she is to begin working on it immediately after she wraps up 'The Fantastic Four 2'.
The original Hong Kong horror/thriller was directed by the Pang brothers, graphically telling the story of a young blind girl who gets a cornea transplant. All the action begins after the surgery, which seems to be a huge success, when the girl begins to see all kind of scary things, dead people and ghosts.
Together with the doctor that gave her back her sight, she embarks on a journey to find out who the first owner of the cornea was and what happened to her or him. It is a movie full of suspense and unpredictable turn of events that permanently keeps viewers on their toes.
Fans of the genre are already anxiously waiting for the US version to come out, although they suspect that it will not be able to re-create or to capture all the elements that made 'The Eye' such a brilliant work, almost a classical in the horror gallery.
